A Note From The President

    August, 2017

Hi, my name is John Laudicina and I am your Everglades Archers President and your Florida Archery Association South Vice President.

This past July we had our annual membership renewal picnic.  As always it was hot and the food was great. To all our new club members, welcome to your club!

During the picnic we also held our Board of Directors elections.  I'd like to thank our outgoing board members for their hard work on behalf of the club.  I'd also like to welcome our new board members including Kevin McCloskey who is back as our club Vice President; welcome back Kevin.  Betty Alamo is now our Secretary/Treasurer and I look forward to her help with our tournaments and other club events.  She has the hardest job of us all keeping the club going; we can’t do it without her!  Vivian Acosta, our Webmaster, and Betty are currently updating and are maintaining our website.  I suggest you keep an eye on the events calendar and visit the website often for all the latest club news and information.

On a serious note, I kindly ask all our members to please pick up after yourselves while on club property.  You may not know this, but there are no maintenance crews to clean up the property, it's just us.  If you see a garbage can filled to the brim, please take it to the dumpster.  If you break an arrow, please put it in the dumpster and not in the garbage cans (broken arrows make holes in trash bags and you will get garbage grunge all over yourself when you carry the bags to the dumpster).  If you bring or prepare food at the club please put the trash in the dumpster.  When you put food in the garbage cans, our friends the raccoons think you've left the food for them to find and in their search they pull the garbage out of the cans throw it all over our range.  This is our club, our archery range, and we all benefit when we pitch in to help maintain it.

Some events we have planned this year are:

    Work Parties

Dates of upcoming work parties are reflected in the club calendar.  Each club member has the responsibility to attend at least two work parties per year to maintain the club, targets and range.  Please mark the dates on your calendar and help support your club.  If you have any questions regarding how you can help, please contact Gregg Powell at (305) 323-1919. We've uploaded a list of the general maintenance and repairs items under the "Maintenance and Repairs" tab.  Please take a moment to review the list and let Gregg know how you can help.

    Novelty Shoot

We've scheduled a Zombie shoot for November 4th.  Archers are gathering to register at 4:00 pm and at 5:00 pm we are shooting a round of paper ZOMBIES.  We then break for a hot dog dinner and shoot again in the dark. Don't forget to bring your flashlight!  This event is open to the public, please feel free to invite friends and introduce them to your club!

The North American Field Archery Championship will be held at our club the second weekend in December.  If you are going to compete please contact Tim Austin, 352-332-1969, to register.  As always, your assistance in helping us to prepare for the tournament is appreciated.  This is a Three day shooting event and shooting lanes and targets need to be maintained, trash needs to be picked up, and food needs to be cooked and served.

Fort Lauderdale Archers, Gold Coast Archers and Everglades Archers are holding Roving 3-D shoots starting in November and running through May.  There are new rules and I believe all archers will welcome the change.  First shoot will be at Gold Coast Archers.

I'd like to express my sincere gratitude to all of you for your support of our club.  We couldn't do it without you!

If you have any questions or comments regarding our club, please feel free to call me.  My phone number is 305-582-2263 and I look forward to hearing from you.

    John Laudicina,

    President, Everglades Archers, Inc.

South Vice President,  Florida Archery Association

Everglades Archers is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of archery in all of its various forms.  The purpose of our club is to educate, promote and enjoy the sport of Archery, with safety as our  prime concern.  We are members of the National Field Archery Association (NFAA) and Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD).  Located in Miami-Dade County, Florida, we host a variety of archery tournaments throughout the year, including State, Field and  3D Tournaments.  Every Wednesday evening we shoot on the Flint Range under the lights, often holding organized league shoots for those who want to participate.  Our youth program includes various county groups as well as Boy Scout and Girl Scout programs.

Everglades Archers continually runs instructional programs hosted by nationally-certified archery coaches for all types of archery.  Programs include 3D bow hunting, compound bow tournament archery, Olympic recurve, and traditional styles of shooting.  We offer different types of archery ranges in one 18 acre location, including the club's signature 80-yard shot across a lake, from a wooded bluff to the bull's-eye!

Belonging to Everglades Archers is the best move you can make toward increasing your enjoyment of the sport.  The camaraderie and friendships you develop with many other archers and their families is especially rewarding.  Archery is truly a family-oriented sport, and the activities at Everglades Archers are formulated around maintaining and building those family relationships.  The expression of ideas, the sharing of experiences, the mutual understanding of the goals, aspirations and passions for the sport all serve to enhance the pride we feel in our organization.  Come out on a Wednesday night, and see for yourself why Everglades Archers is a great club, in a unique location, with a friendly and experienced group of archers.

We have HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD memberships available which includes everyone residing in the home under the age of 18.  Membership dues are collected upon acceptance to the club and include membership in the NFAA (National Field Archery Association) and FAA (Florida Archery Association).  Everglades Archers also offers a discounted rate for students and seniors who meet the criteria.  Please contact one of our club officers, listed at the bottom of our Home Page, for more information.
